About RTI

The Right to Information Act, 2005 empowers citizens to seek information from any public authority, thereby promoting transparency and accountability in the working of every public institution.

As per the Act, every citizen of India has the right to access information under the control of public authorities to promote transparency and accountability in governance.

4. Mode of Application Submission

You may submit your RTI application:

• By Post: Addressed to the Public Information Officer, NHIT, Durgapur.

• By Hand: To the Office of the PIO during working hours (10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday).

5. Response Time

As per Section 7(1) of the RTI Act, the information will be provided within 30 days from the date of receipt of the request by the PIO.

If the information concerns the life or liberty of a person, it shall be supplied within 48 hours.

6. Exemptions from Disclosure

Certain information is exempt under Sections 8 and 9 of the RTI Act, such as:

• National security or sovereignty matters

• Trade secrets or intellectual property

• Personal information that would cause unwarranted invasion of privacy

9. Appeal Process

If the applicant is not satisfied with the reply or does not receive a response within 30 days, they may file a First Appeal to the Appellate Authority (Principal of NHIT) within 30 days of receiving the reply.
